KAFH Officers
Francis Park (박재원) | PRESIDENT
Francis is a retired businessman who has served on the KAFH Board of Directors since 2020. As a telecommunications engineer, he has worked for several Global Enterprises and the US Federal Government since his arrival in the United States in 1979. He began serving the community as the President of the Pacific Island Jaycees (JCI Senator 43552) in 1985 and later served as an Elder at the Christ United Methodist Church (the First Korean Church outside of Korea) in Honolulu. With his passion for leadership education among young generations of Korean immigrants, he established the CUMC Scholarship Foundation in 2014 and currently serves as its Chairman of the Board. He has also served his motherland through the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (민주평통), acting as the president of the Hawaii Chapter for the 18th to 20th terms (2017 - 2023). Francis was the recipient of the Presidential Award of the Republic of Korea in 2016 (대통령 표창) and the National Medal of Merit of the Republic of Korea in 2020 (국민훈장 동백장).
Ivan Chong | VICE-PRESIDENT
Ivan Chong is the President and Founder of IC Construction, Inc. He immigrated to Hawaii from Korea in his early teens and has called Hawaii home since then. Ivan graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Business Administration and has over thirty years of experience within the construction industry. Ivan has worked with a variety of local and international clientele, including, most recently, developers of affordable housing to facilitate a growing community in Hawaii. Ivan works alongside his employees and managers on projects and has also dedicated time to volunteering. Some of his volunteering includes his position as an Elder at the Paradise Korean Church in Hawaii, a Board Member for the Korean American Foundation Hawaii, a Board Member for the Korea United States Alliance Foundation, a Board Member for Founding President Syng Man Rhee of Hawaii, and a member of the Rotary Club of Honolulu.
Taeyong M. Kim | SECRETARY
Taeyong M. Kim is the President and Principal Planner of Environmental Communications, Inc., a land use planning company that serves government, institutional and commercial clients. Mr. Kim is a graduate of the University of Hawaii where he conducted his undergraduate, graduate and MBA studies.
Outside of his professional career, he has long served the community through his work with non-profit organizations including the Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce where he served as Director and Officer, the Korean American Coalition Hawaii serving as President and National Secretary, and as the second President of the Korean American Foundation Hawaii. Mr. Kim is also a Pacific Century Fellow and has been a member of other professional and civic organizations since his collegiate years.
Ann Chung | TREASURER
Ms. Chung brings over 30 years of strategic management experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors. She spent 20 of those years in leadership positions in the State of Hawaii including 6 years as Economic Development Director for the City & County of Honolulu and has 14 years of successful lobbying expertise.
Born in Korea and raised in Hawaii, Ms. Chung graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of California at Berkeley. She is a Pacific Century Fellow alumna, two-time recipient of the Pacific Business News 40 Under 40 award, and has served on the numerous boards including the Korean American Foundation and the Korean Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii.
